From one photo to a finished image, step by step

Every project follows the same route, whether it is a single portrait on an Icelandic beach or a painted edition for a large print. The first stop costs nothing, and nothing is decided until we have talked.

1. You send a photo

Email one clear portrait or full-length photo to ecole@lensvoyage.tech, or use the consultation request, and add a few words about the place you have in mind. Send the original file rather than a screenshot, since screenshots lose the detail I need around hair and clothing edges. The source photo checklist explains how to take a good one in ten minutes.

2. A free consultation

We talk by phone or email. We cover the place and the hour of the day, whether you want a photographic result or a painted one, how the image will be used (screen, gift, large print) and who else appears in it. This is also the moment to ask anything, including how AI-assisted tools fit into the work. There is no obligation and nothing to pay.

3. Scope, timing and price are agreed with you

Only after the consultation do we agree what is included, how long it will take and what it costs. This is done personally and in writing by email. This website is informational: it does not sell services and does not take payments, so any payment arrangement is made directly and separately with you.

4. The scene is built

I begin with a light study of the destination: where the sun sits, how soft or hard the shadows are, what colour the sky and ground reflect. Then I cut you out carefully, relight your face and clothing to match, paint the contact shadows where your feet meet the ground, add atmosphere for distance, and finish by matching colour, sharpness and grain. AI-assisted tools help with selected mechanical jobs such as edge selection, but every decision and every final adjustment is made by hand.

5. Preview and revisions

Before the image is finished you receive a preview. This is the moment to say the sun should be lower, the mood warmer or the crop tighter. We agree the number of revision rounds up front, so both sides know what to expect.

6. Delivery

You receive the final retouched files in high resolution, prepared for the way you plan to use them, whether on screen or in print. Usage rights for the finished image are agreed in writing during step 3.

What affects the effort

Because every project is different, there is no fixed price list. The main factors are the quality and resolution of the source photo, the number of people in the image, how complex the destination is, whether you want a photographic or painted result, the size of the final output and your deadline. Once we have talked, you will know exactly what is included before anything begins.
